Working Full Time and Promoting an Album

Sounds difficult, and it is. It takes a special kind of person to juggle two full time careers. I’ve been doing that for about 2 years but, it is getting more intense now that I have started a full-time day job that sucks up all my day hours. I am quite OK with this because I am no longer struggling financially and it’s really going to help me in the long run. It may even connect me to the next level of my music career.

By day, I work at Blue Fountain Media. By night and weekend, I am Chad D – best NYC music artist and author of debut album “The Human Link.” Please check out my best NYC music experiment. I am trying to rank #1 on Google for certain keywords, starting with best NYC music.

It is important for independent musicians that are just starting out to have a day job to keep them stable. Maintaining the “starving artist” archetype is unhealthy and will lead to decay and a slow, slow growth pattern. Even if you’re working at Starbucks, a steady flow of income will allow you to budget yourself and put some money into youir music career. It does take money to make money, and the more money you have to invest in your true dream, the quicker it can happen.

I don’t think money is the single factor in success but without a doubt, it helps and can propel artists to the top at a blistering pace. Working hard for income will make you appreciate it more. You will be proud to provide your own financial backing and investments in yourself. You will decrease your stress level and boost self-esteem.

Keep working until you make it, that’s what I’m doing.

Sometimes, it’s okay to relax.

If you are working, you may feel busy at times, or all the time. I’ve been busy this summer, and although it’s nothing compared to the schedule that lies ahead, there is always time for a break. Embarking on this career journey is a 24/7 experience. My mind is always churning, I’m always on the lookout for ideas, connections, and progress, but it becomes overwhelming at times. We all know this as stress, and it can pile up in more ways than we may realize. One part of being successful is knowing when to take a break and relieve possible stress build up. Recently, I’ve been up and down with stress due to fluctuation in activity and progress, hence why I believe this summer to have been a break. The constant up and down is tiring and can be depressing if not handled healthily. Think about your own situation – if you are feeling dramatic highs and lows, chances are you need to step back, evaluate the situation, and develop a plan to sooth yourself by planning ahead. Planning ahead paired with taking steady breaks is a ticket to success. I am only beginning to learn my stress limits and best methods of situation evaluation, but I know that when I take a step back and determine a plan of action, I feel calm and optimistic instead of anxious.

Gap between fan and “celebrity” – Pink video

This really goes to show how the gap between “celebrity” and fan is closing. A fan from Nuremburg posted this video recently, and I believe Pink handles herself very well – despite the fact that she is well aware of the video camera in her face . I think I’ll be fine with situations like that because I’ve grown up online, and I’ve recently begun to study new technology and how to use it to my advantage. I thought I was so behind because I’ve only recently gotten my first smartphone with a capable video camera, but it now seems like I am ahead of the pack. It’s so easy to record, edit, and upload videos to the internet. At this rate, it really won’t be long until we can capture holograms. I’ve been utilizing the internet in every aspect of my life, and although the results are minuscule now, I believe it will build and snowball exponentially. I’m developing my own personal, but public, sector of the internet, and using video is only one way of developing buzz. Blogs, websites, YouTube, and social networking are just the beginning of an interconnected human network. Experimenting and exploring the internet and all that it can offer is crucial for upcoming and ambitious artists or other industry positions. Pink must have learned this along the way and realized that any publicity, no matter how invasive or intimate, is good publicity. This video is constantly being played, creating free and easy buzz for Pink!
